The need to decarbonise process heat to help achieve net zero goals is well recognised in New Zealand. There are a number of innovative initiatives taking place there.
Now DETA Consulting has launched a new report on New Zealand’s Process Heat Fuel Future - Part 1 South Island.
The research behind the greenpaper suggests the South Island has the capability to completely abate fossil fuels in low-to-medium process heat, but government and industries will need to work together to accomplish it. For the first time, this paper looks to quantify the supply and cost implications of removing fossil fuel out of the industrial process heat consumption equation and sets the scene for where the alternatives may come from.
